Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are coming to me at all different levels when it comes to reading. They come to 3rd Grade with the big state test weighing over their heads. Students know that 3rd grade is a make or break year for them and that they must pass the Reading portion of the state test in order to be promoted to 4th grade. Being a Title 1 school, with a majority of students being on free and reduced lunch, and coming from lower socioeconomic, and rough home lives...It is my job to make their dreams of 4th grade become a reality.
My Project
My students need materials beyond their textbooks. I would like to utilize teacher pay teacher resources to engage my students in centers, interactive notebooks, and projects. By doing so, I can deepen their love for learning using materials other than their district textbooks. TPT is a great site with so many hands-on activities and project-based learning. I have requested everything from Digital Math Fluency Practice, Teaching Reading and Writing Skills with Animated Shorts, The Best Part of Me Opinion Writing Graphic Organizers, Writing Paper, & Rubrics, 3rd Grade Math Games, and so much more!
In addition, teachers have to provide their own paper.
Being a title 1 school with 3/4 of the students coming from low-income homes, I can't ask my parents to supply paper. Learning can be more engaging by simply using colored paper to grab the students attention!
Thank you for always supporting my students and their education!
