My students need supplies, such as paper and stencils, to help encourage and enhance their writing by creating a nice writing environment with materials at their disposal.
So when is the "write" time to write? That's the question of the day! My children are very creative and imaginative when talking through their stories, but when it is time to write, they would rather be doing anything but just that!
I am currently a Second grade teacher in a Title I school, which serves approximately 565 students in grades 2-5.
Through my education and teaching experience, I have grown to value the importance of writing. I want to integrate a variety of manipulatives and resources in my lessons. I have 10 male students and 11 female students. I have 7 African American, 13 Caucasian, and 1 Hispanic child. I have 2 students who receive speech services and 1 student who goes to an ESOL class. I also have a student who is pulled for resource. I have several students that are reading and writing below grade level, and then I have several high students functioning on a 3rd grade level. I want to be able to reach all of the learners in my class by teaching to each child.
My Project
To assist my students better in writing I am in need of some resources to assist in writing such as a writing center, writing prompts to help the students creativity to get started as well as a variety of other materials to make their own books or writing. I am requesting a wooden center for storage of different writing utensils, and different paper for the students to be able to use. I am also requesting construction paper so the students can use it to make books, illustrations, and other creative ideas with their writing.
I would like to have a variety of materials easily available for the students to use at their disposal so that they can enjoy writing outside of writing time. All of the items I want are below, on and above grade level and will be easily adapted as needed for differentiated instruction.
