Help me give my students some math manipulatives including bears for counting and activity sheets, number bond activity cards to practice number families and a giant magnetic number bond for us to practice together as a class.
My class is made up of a wonderful group of students who come to school with bright smiles and positive attitudes. Since few attended preschool before coming to my class, we have a lot of ground to cover. Most of my students are learning English as a second language, making their first year in school a little more challenging. All of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch and Second Harvest Food Bank comes to our school each month to bring healthy fruits and vegetables to them.
My Project
These are materials that my five year old kiddos will be able to use right away during our kindergarten math time. We are learning about number bonds and fact families to promote numeral fluency. The Write and Wipe Fact Family Boards, and Bond Cards will be perfect for my little ones to practice cardinality using these resources. The cards provide the perfect visual for my student. It will be so easy for them to record what they are thinking with an expo marker!
The different colored bears and Bear Sorting STEM Education pack will help my students learn many mathematical concepts including graphing, more/less, sorting and patterning.
It will also help my kindergarteners with their fine motor skills by including twizzers which can be used to pick up the little bears.
Finally, I have requested geoboards and bands. They will learn to make shapes, learn about area/perimeter, and make numbers and letters. Of course, there will be time for my kids to use their imagination and make creations of their own too.
