Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very eager to learn and utilize the materials that I have. This is my second year teaching 4th grade reading and writing and I am trying to build my classroom library with books that will meet the needs of all my students. I have a very diverse population of students that are on many different reading levels. They come from homes with hard working parents that want them to succeed. They are very intelligent and come ready to learn every day!
My students have a love for reading new books and appreciate literature.
I try to expose them to as many different forms that I can. My students want to help me in any way possible and love getting new books to add to our library. They loved taking the picture for my photo since it was going to help get more supplies.
My Project
The books that I am requesting are for an author study project that I am would like to start with my students. I have read several books written by Patricia Polacco to my students and they have loved every single one!
Patricia Polacco is an amazing author!
Her books are based on experiences that she had when she was growing up and my students relate to them very well. They ask me all the time to read more books written by her, but I do not have that many to read. I am almost done with the ones I have in my library. I would like to conduct an author study in class, so my students can get to know her and her material in a meaningful manner.
