My Students
I have a group of thirteen amazing three-year-old PreK Students. We are located in a small rural district in northeastern Oklahoma. The majority of the schools in our district are Title I. Our community has a very high Native American population, as it is the home for nine Tribal Nations. Many of my students are experiencing being in a school setting for the first time. We are preparing them and building a foundation for them to continue to become successful scholars.
My Project
Every Early Childhood classroom needs a good kitchen to play in. We had a kitchen, but it had to go to a new home. We are asking for a kitchen, a kid mixer and a cookie set to "make cookies" in their new kitchen!
Pretend Play is vital in Pre, it promotes Social, Emotional, and Mental Development, along with Communication Skills.
With Social and Emotional development, they can take on new roles and put themselves into new situations. With Mental Development they are encountering problem-solving and looking for solutions. They are talking to one another, so they are increasing their communication skills.
