My students need more hands on activities to incorporate into our morning tubs. Legos, brain flakes, and Lincoln Logs are all supplies my students would enjoy to tap into skill sets we don't always get to.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I get to teach some of West Charlotte, NC’s most finest scholars. Although Westside of Charlotte is one of the most impoverished areas in Charlotte, my students and myself won’t let that hold us back. We aim to be leaders, thinkers, and doers of good for the next generation. We are proud of who we are and driven to do our best everyday by loving ourselves and one another. My scholars are caring, driven, and talented . They will make a difference.
My Project
Morning Tubs have shown to be a success in classrooms and a great alternative to morning work! With traditional paper morning work, students who go to breakfast enter and struggle to have enough time to finish their morning work, and students who are late, don't get to complete it at all in most cases. When this happens, they are starting their day off feeling behind and this can cause stress and anxiety for some kids.
Mornings can be stressful already for some, and I want my students to ease into each day in a stress free, fun and engaging way, and this can be achieved through Morning Tubs.
Students will come into the classroom, grab their assigned tub and get to work. This allows them a fun and active way to warm up their brains and have conversations with their peers that are casual and not academic. One of the best things about Morning Tubs is that ALL students can use them, no matter their academic level. This helps those with low self-confidence start their day with something they know they can do and hopefully, that confidence will carry over into the rest of the day! It is crucial that students start their school day off on the right foot and Morning Tubs can help make that happen
