First Grade is a magical year for students to learn foundational skills that prepared them for the rest of their lives. We try our best to be kind, work hard, and not to give up when we don't quite understand something YET. This age group loves to learn. There is nothing like the look on a child's face when something clicks and they feel the accomplishment from all of their determination.
Everyday is full of giggles, smiles, and lots of wiggles.
These kiddos keep me on my toes and I wouldn't have it any other way. They make me strive to provide the best environment possible for their success. This is why I LOVE spending my days in the classroom.
My Project
On a daily basis, I carve out as much time for movement as I can. However the result is always the same. There is never enough time in the day for how many wiggles these kiddos have. These 5, 6, and 7 year olds are not built to sit still for very long. These seating options will allow us to move as we learn. Wobble chairs will give us the ability to sway and be an active listener and focused learner. Especially during writing these help us do our best. The balance balls will allow us to rock or gently bounce and keep our core muscles engaged as we can focus on our task at hand. With these as seating options for independent work, my very active students will have a learning environment that helps them succeed.
First Graders are FULL of energy.
The more energy my students can expel by allowing their bodies to move, the more they can focus. The more they can focus, the more we can learn. They will be engaged in classroom activities and not always searching for a way to get their wiggles out. This makes for a happy, successful classroom. This is what I strive for.
