This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students that I work with are 3rd-grade students in the city of Baton Rouge. To me they are amazing. After everything our city has been through with the flood of 2016, they inspire me because they came to school each day ready to learn. They were truly awesome! Many of them lost everything in the flood and the fact that I can make a difference in their lives makes me proud! They inspire me more than they will ever know!
Though we are not at our home school for this new school year, we are placed in a better situation, and I am very excited for our students to have a fresh start in a better environment.
My Project
Having a wide assortment of reading material is very important. Students come to you with a range of reading levels. Within a classroom you can have students reading several grade levels above where they are to several grade levels below. These reading resources will allow me to be able to reach to needs of each and every learner.
Sometimes it's just difficult to find resources for the students.
It's important to have quality resources for student use. I want the material that is presented to my students to be material that will help them to grow as learners.
The pens and highlighters will help us with annotating and note taking. Students always have to go back into the text to find evidence to support their answers. All of these items will work collectively to build better and brighter readers.
