Let me introduce you to my wonderful group of students! My students are an excited, eager, motivated, and athletic bunch of children. The 25 students in my first grade room enter my room and become little sponges soaking up all the knowledge they can. And one thing that sets my students apart from all the others is their pure love of learning! They love learning new strategies in math and learning new skills in ELA. The students get very excited when they finally make the connection they had been missing or discover something on their own. They are very curious little minds and ask questions about everything in their search to gain more knowledge in the walls of our school.
I teach in a larger city, with a very diverse population, and my classroom reflects that diversity directly.
I have many students who speak a different language at home, are from different cultures, and they bring their culture into our classroom. The students get very excited when they share about what makes them different and how they celebrate the country from where they, or their parents, are from.
I am requesting these tablets to help engage my students during our ELA and math blocks. I have many students in my classroom that do not speak English as their primary language. Having access to books that can be read aloud to them will help increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Hearing how words sound will help learn the phonics that goes into learning to read, especially since English has many sounds that have special rules. It will also benefit the other students by expanding their vocabulary to learn new words and gain exposure to new content that may be above their reading level.
For math, I like to fully engage my students in the lesson being taught.
I like for the children to be able to get hands on experience when learning about addition and subtraction. Having the tablets will allow for students to participate in online programs to increase their learning and play interactive games that will allow them to put into practice the skills and strategies they are learning about.
