This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my first grade class consist a lot of interactions with reading and writing. In first grade, I'm teaching my students the "first" of many new skills. At the end of the year, I want my students to be able to take the new skills they learned and use it in their daily life.
I teach 20 ELL learners in my class.
They all came from homes where they speak another language with their parents. My favorite thing about working with ELL learners is that I get to see so much growth in their language, espeically speaking. I also like the fact that I can relate to them because I was an ELL learners myself. My school is a Title I school, which means more than 80% of our students elligible for free or redude lunch. Our school is located in the center of a middle class neighborhood. Our school don't have a lot of resources for our students but we make the best of what we have.
My Project
I'm asking for two iPads for my students to use as a resource and tool to help them learn phonics and math. I have been to many trainings and I learn many apps that can help my students grow academically. With the ipads, my students will be able to practice their phonics and math skills. The next generation is used to the technologic world and with the ipad, it will help connect with this generation.
This resource will improve my classroom by providing a welcoming environment for my students.
My students will be able to use this to help tone their academic skills. They will be able to practice their phonics or read books online. They will also be able to practice their math skills. With these recources, my students' lives will be enhanced because learning will be enhanced.
