My Students

The students in my class are so unique, and so special in their own ways. We have a huge range of talents and abilities which makes this group a lot of fun to be around. There are many creative souls and some who need a little bit of encouragement. I love being able to see each student grow in their learning!

Most of my students have great support systems, but not all.

Some desperately need the support and stability that a positive learning environment can provide. I want to strive each and every day to provide that balance in each child’s life, so they know there is someone who is truly there for them.

My Project

As teachers we are finding that students seem to struggle socially since the pandemic began. When schools closed in early 2020, students were not able to cultivate interpersonal relationships. Having a creator space with LEGO bricks and plates will encourage proper socialization and cooperation in students. They will be able to practice communication and reasoning skills in a creative outlet. There are also students who thrive with hands-on projects that are simply not available to them in any other place.

The Lego sets will also be used as an alternative choice for project based assessments.

We will use the LEGO sets to demonstrate learning with Math concepts in particular. Students will show understanding of fractions (addition and subtraction), and finding perimeter and area of objects using the LEGO studs as a unit of measurement. Another project based assessment will be done in Social Studies as we learn about past and present civilizations of Utah. My amazingly creative students will absolutely love learning in such a fun, hands-on way!
