Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students with autism often have a hard time in the general education classroom due to "sensory overload". They are not able to regulate themselves, and end up acting out to get the calming sensory input they need. Studies show that sensory gyms are effective because they allow the students to get the stimulation and sensory input they desire in a safe, constructive way.

We want to create a space on our campus for our students with sensory processing disorders to have a safe place to get their needs met.

In our sensory gym, we will strive to create a calming environment where students can "take a reset". This will allow them to feel more comfortable and be more successful in the classroom.
