I teach an active bunch of hard-working first graders in a Chicago Public School. This is my 21st(!) year teaching First Grade and I've loved every year of it! My students come from diverse backgrounds and over 20 different languages are spoken at home!
All students enjoy reading and being read to on a daily basis.
My students love to hear familiar stories and to discover new ones throughout the school year. They love to share their life stories as well!
Active 1st Graders need space to read independently, to read with one another, and to experience a read-aloud with the entire class. My students love reading just-right books in a relaxing space. A large classroom rug with spaced squares is the perfect solution!
My students will be able to develop their love of reading on a comfortable, welcoming rug.
As the center of our classroom, this eye-catching rug will be where students can safely share their thoughts and ideas. It will be a place of great learning as well as a safe place to share what has been going on in their young lives.
