One of my favorite quotes by Beverly Sills (which is posted in my classroom) is: “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” My students live this philosophy every day as they develop their knowledge of algebra and geometry through hard work. My students are exceptional because they come from many different countries, neighborhoods, and socioeconomic backgrounds to unite in their pursuit of becoming exceptional mathematicians. No matter what challenges they might face in their lives away from school, when they step into my classroom, they enter their home away from home.
My students feel safe in my classroom.
They often come and hang out in my room long before school starts, at lunch, and even after school. My students are drawn to a place where they feel valued and pushed to achieve as learners. I am grateful to be an integral part of these students' lives, and I want to make the best of the time that I have with them.
My Project
Spike-ball is a great outdoor sport that allows every student to come together in some team building, competitive fun! My students have fallen in love with this sport every since I introduced it to them. A couple of students and I made this club this year so that we can show the students how much fun it is!
Since then, we have had a few tournaments at the campus and it is now grabbing a lot of attention from the student body.
We play every week on Thursdays at lunch. The students have so much fun and I just want to provide more opportunities for them to improve friendships and their skills.
