Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wonderful second-grade class consists of 24 eager students. Most of them are deeply motivated and truly enjoy learning, but some need a little nudge to pay attention. My students are curious and ready to be challenged and motivated.

Our school is in a low-income community that serves a large number of English learners.

They come in ready to learn and work, but at times it is a challenge to keep their attention. In this age, we are competing with video games and students’ attention spans are cut short. I need to inspire them to put their attention to technology and coding.

My Project

This STEAM pack will make a big impact on my students: it will allow my students to learn how to code. The Dash robots will give them the opportunity to learn and build confidence for them to be successful. They will be able to accomplish different tasks with the accessories included. They will get their creative juices flowing with the sketch kit, making art with a robot.

My students have amazing abilities that shine when technology is involved.

They will be able to work in small groups to manipulate Dash. It will be an amazing life-changing experience for them to realize how learning can be so much fun. I will no longer need to worry about capturing their attention.

These Dash robots and accessories will give my students the tools they need to be ready for robotics in their future years in school. They will learn that technology is an important tool that can make learning fun. Some students might even decide that this is a passion they didn't know they had.
