My students are an energetic, sweet and creative group of young individuals who enjoy being in the school environment and interacting with their peers and teachers. During these interactions, my students enjoy playing with toys while they are on a break from doing work. In addition to using these toys during break times, these toys are also used to help develop their social and requesting skills.
My students are primarily diagnosed with Autism and require effective reinforcers (such as toys) to help maintain on task behaviors, to encourage the use of language and to help teach and foster social skills throughout the day.
My Project
My project is to help get ready for the 2020-2021 school year! Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, my students have not been in the classroom since March. As we are anticipating a return to school this September, I want to be able to create an environment that will help the students get excited for their return to school and to help them return to an environment that encourages an increased use of language and appropriate play and social skills.
Having materials and toys in the classroom that serve as both reinforcers and learning tools will help create the environment students need upon their return to school.
