My students need to get fit by exercising outdoors with sports equipment while playing cooperative games/sports! We want to fight obesity, make friends, and enjoy one another as we play games and exercise. Wellness is a top priority!
My students need to move outdoors! My students want basketballs, soccer balls, games, and equipment storage. They will spend recess time and benefit after school as they explore game playing, develop friendships, and collaborate together. Help us get fit and exercise! Materials will be used to play games cooperatively.
Our campus serves a diverse population with over 40 languages and 12 % homeless.
We are a Title I campus with low income, medium and high socio-economic statuses. This project will benefit multi-grade levels Pre-K through 6th grade.
I am a member of the Eco-Green Team at our campus and want to encourage all students to get outdoors and exercise!
This project will help increase our physical activity at our campus and reduce obesity. Help us reach our goal and make our dream come true to get our students moving and cooperating as they play together! We want materials to encourage cooperation and collaboration with loose parts and materials for more structured activities.
My Project
My students are longing for outdoor physical equipment that is designated just for outdoors. Another teacher and I purchased sand toys for the sand pit for the campus but the students ask for balls, nets, games, and scarves. The physical education teacher has a limited amount of money to use for indoor space and can not fund the outdoor materials needed for recess. The students selected items from the catalog that would benefit the campus by selecting things for older and younger students as well as a set of weights for teachers. The students picked balls, hoops, jump ropes for active movement and a cart for storage to maintain items. Our school is landlocked so space is limited and we need to make the best use out of every inch. All materials will be used outdoors to keep our students moving and play together cooperatively. Building community and coming together as a cohesive community is important!
The eco-green team students recognize the need for additional outdoor materials and the students helped write this project.
