Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my second year teaching at this school. I was given additional grades this year so traveling to every classroom with supplies will be a bit challenging. The children at the school have warmed up to the fact that now they have Art and can't wait to start new and exciting projects. Its in a low income base population so its hard to ask a lot from the parents. The students last year really wanted to paint and use mediums that we couldn't afford. This year I hope to be able to have then create paintings on good thick paper.
As that being such an amazing title, I want to make their experience with Art and its various material as enjoyable and adventurous as possible.
Its been tough so far, copy paper is not holding up with paint. I don't know how I will get to do alot of things I was hoping to do with them.
My Project
The card stock paper, paints and canvases make the students feel like they are actually making a piece of art that can be kept versus being thrown away. The paper weight will be able to hold the paint without warping the paper. There are 30 students in each class and its tough to have enough supplies.
I would like to use the paper for recreating master art works like Van Gogh Sun Flowers and recreating Mike Greg street art murals with the paints.
This year I want to be able to introduce the greatness of paint to all grade levels. I will be teaching all grades K-8 this year.
