Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is a tuition-free, public charter elementary school in southeast Atlanta. We serve 530 scholars in grades kindergarten through fourth grade with a population that is 97% African American and 3% Hispanic. Ninety-seven percent of our scholars qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Each grade level is based on an age-appropriate value (Love, Teamwork, Honor, Excellence, Leadership) that helps build character skills and prepares them for the grade to come. At school, the path to and through college begins in kindergarten! We believe that all children are created with a unique purpose and charge to do great things. We are committed to creating a warm and nurturing environment that cultivates learning and excellence in not only our scholars but their families as well.

My Project

As the days have gone on, our materials have seen some things... It's been over 2 years since we've truly organized and it's time to get back on track!

Containers fix everything, right?

Maybe not quite everything but it will definitely help keep our classroom in order! New containers will house manipulatives and other hands-on materials that we are finally able to use again (woohoo!). With your help, we will be able to keep track of all the small things- and some of the big things too! Our shelves are waiting to be sorted through and reorganized!
