These sensational students live in California! These student scholars find school to be fun and love to learn. The classroom is a safe space for students to discover, explore and experiment. Their families are diverse and many of them are pioneers being first-generation students in the U.S. public school system.
Most of our school’s students receive free or reduced-cost meals.
Our classroom is very diverse and we have many home languages including Chinese, Burmese, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese and English, to name just a few!
I try to push my students to challenge themselves academically, to learn empathy and to promote inclusiveness and most importantly, that making mistakes is okay! I make it my goal to provide a safe, welcoming and accommodating setting for all of the students to feel comfortable and confident. I also want to equip my students with the tools and skills to explore their education in differentiated ways so they can find out what type of learner they are!
At the end of each school year, I clean out and save as much of my classroom supplies and tools as I can for the following year. This past school year, I did something a little different and allowed my students to keep their pencil boxes and many supplies for their summer and future use. It felt like time to update many of my older materials. Because of this, my incoming thirty-four 5th grade scholars will need pencil boxes and a storage cart to remain organized this school year!
I want my scholars to feel welcomed, comfortable and have what they need so that they can work on their organization skills and produce their best work!
Having a new set of pencil boxes would be a great addition to this year and scholars' ability to keep organized. Because we often work in small and differentiated groups, pencil boxes will help scholars be responsible for their own supplies. I am so hopeful and excited for these students to get individual pencil boxes to work on their organization skills! Thank you for your consideration.
