Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There are currently 5 amazing students who will be entering my Intensive Global Supports level 1 classroom in August. My classroom can have up to 8 students. My students require intensive 1-3 step direct instruction in a small setting. My students are learning how to follow directions, add 1:1 correspondence, identify numbers 1-50, read sight words, as well as learning how to identify coins, their values, and their meanings.
All of my students require different medias for writing since writing is a challenge for them and many of them have difficulty seeing the correct lines on their paper.
My students require modeling and repetition.
All of my students are also very sensory based and require a variety of sensory strategies throughout the day to help them to focus and learn. Some of my students know to ask, whereas others are still learning. My students use IPADS and Computers throughout the day to help them to learn.
All of my students are learning what is socially appropriate behavior (keeping hands to self, not excluding students from play). We help students learn this through reminders of school rules as well as modeling it for them throughout the school day.
My Project
The two 8 cube organizers will make a difference for my students because it will assist me with organizing my room and getting rid of the clutter I have. The materials and items they need will be more easily assessable due to being in a better location and easier for them to find. The slant board will my students. They are having difficulties reading straight down on the table but I have found when it is upright for them they have more success. The slant board will assist students with the ability to have things right in front of them which will allow them better opportunities for learning.
