My students are 8th graders trying to get ready for high school. Our school is a Title I school in a low income community, and all of my students have dreams and goals they are constantly striving to achieve.
Our school's mission is to ensure that every students is prepared to be a productive member of society and to achieve personal success through innovative, student-centered learning.
We encourage students to express their interests and learning in creative and exciting ways.
Keeping work and belongings organized is a skill that my students work to develop throughout the school year. A quick and easy way to get students started on the road of organization is color coding categories of individual classroom resources.
Organization is a skill that can be used in all aspects of life, and which will be helpful to students as they continue in their educational and professional careers.
With different types of assignments organized by paper color, students will be able to organize and locate their assignments and classroom resources. They can use this organizational strategy as a jumping off point in order to help them organize other aspects of their lives both in and outside of school.
