In my Kindergarten classroom, we use Daily 5 giving the students the choice of where they go for each 15 min. round. The students are learning to be organized and responsible from day one using book bins and cubby trays.
My students love that they are able to chose their own spot in the classroom to work and learn.
They use the book bins to keep up with their work and books as they move around the classroom and the cubby trays to keep their papers until it is time to pack up for the day.
My Project
Using book bins and cubby trays are a daily routine that we use everyday. In my classroom we use Daily 5 during our ELAR time. The students have a choice of 5 different reading and writing strategies (Listen to Read, Word Work, Work on Writing, Read to Self, Read to Someone) they are responsible for taking their books and journals to different areas of the classroom during this time.
These book bins are important to help the students keep up with their things while moving around the room freely.
In some stations there are different materials that they will take home each day. The cubby trays are a great way to help them keep up with all their loose papers.
Since we are using both the book bins and cubby trays on a daily basis in our classroom, it is very important they are durable and last.
