Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our second-grade room is full of movement and comfort! From sitting on the floor on a shaggy rug, hanging out in our class tepee, using lap trays to write on while sitting on the floor, etc.. Our lessons are hands-on with Interactive Read Alouds, Smart Board Activities, and more. Second grade is the last year of primary where developing reading skills and reading comprehension skills are essential. We use the Daily 5 structure where students have the opportunity to visit different rotations while others are in small group guided reading. The rotations are Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Listen to Reading and Work on Writing. We also use computer programs such as iReady, AR, and Spelling City to help improve our reading skills.
My Project
My students have trouble storing the necessary textbooks, workbooks, school supplies, etc. in their desks. Chair pockets will give them enough room to store all their supplies and help keep them organized. They will also help my students cleanup more efficiently, saving valuable class time!
Organization is essential for students to be successful.
These organizational items will help my students to get their supplies faster and make clean up time more efficient, allowing them to spend more of their class time working on their classwork.
Help our class gain back valuable learning time by donating to our DonorsChoose.org project!
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Ms. Zimmerman and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
