I could not be more excited for the opportunity I have been given this year. I get the honor of teaching children who are so engaged in learning, who are invested in their education, and who care so very deeply about not only their successes, but the success of those around them.
These children come from all walks of life, neighborhoods all across Philadelphia, and, because of them, this school is incredibly diverse.
The children learn how to be Global Citizens as early as Kindergarten. They are taught how to be lifelong learners and contributors of society. My students are going to change the world-I have no doubt about that!
My Project
Last year, my students mentioned that it would have been nice to have more alternative seating within our classroom. Someone mentioned how he loved to read on a nice cushioned bench while on vacation. So, when thinking about setting up my classroom this year, I thought about how nice it would be to have a "reading nook" for my future students.
When you listen to children about their needs and wants, you find out a great deal, my students want a comfortable bench to do their independent reading--and I want to get it for them!
This wonderful storage bench can give my students what they desire, as well as giving me more storage for their books.
I plan to use the wall organizer for children to access if they are every absent and need to make up any classwork or homework. Each slot will have extra copies off the classwork for each day and the homework assignments. In addition, I plan to try to have extra classwork on various ability levels available to the children.
