Mrs. Maddock from Kalamazoo MI is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a literature organizer to have somewhere to keep their novels and classwork to better establish a sense of security within the classroom.

I teach in a very unique school setting! In my classroom, I teach a variety of students with Emotional Impairments and Learning Disabilities. All my students are court-ordered to attend my class as they work to improve their academic and social skills to earn their way back into their public school. A vast majority of my students come from high-poverty and racially diverse backgrounds.
My students benefit from unique, individualized, academic instruction.
They are creative, funny, and work tirelessly to become better versions of themselves each and every day. Helping my students become connected with the world around them and preparing them for life after high school is the biggest motivation for seeking funding that will directly benefit them.
Since my students are unable to bring backpacks to transport materials between classes, materials are kept within the classroom each day for students to refer back to each hour they need them. Unfortunately, without a consistent place for students to place their materials, assignments often get lost, books are torn, and misplaced writing assignments go unfinished.
The addition of a literature organizer in my classroom enables students to take ownership of their materials, knowing exactly where their supplies and work are kept each time they enter the classroom.
Providing the organizer for students will help them take responsibility for their materials and increase the turn-in rate of their assignments. Additionally, it is my hope that the organizer will help model a routine of organization for my students to implement not only in the classroom, but in their own lives.
