I work in a wonderful middle school in North Oakland. What I love the most about the school is the diversity. I have students that come with many beautiful backgrounds, different cultures and socioeconomic status. The students take care of one another and differences are celebrated.
First and foremost, my students are vibrant, clever, motivated, hilarious, kind, thoughtful, passionate and lovers of learning.
What you may not notice upon meeting these wonderful 6th graders is that many of my students come to school hungry, tired, and without their emotional needs met. It's crucial that I create a safe and positive environment so that learning and relationships can happen naturally.
My Project
Our annual subscription to Brainpop will allow my students to learn ELA concepts through engaging videos and interactive assessments. This is a supplement to our curriculum, so that I can ensure that the needs of every learner are met.
We also need supplies to help organize our English notebooks.
Colored paper helps us keep track of graphic organizers and keep our work from getting all mixed up!
We need scissors to trim things down so that our notebooks don't get too sloppy!
We will use files and file boxes to keep track of our extra important work for the year.
