Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you imagine yourself bored during recess? My students need activity mats, jump ropes, shake & move ribbon bells, and Hokki stools to move around and stay healthy.
I teach thirty-one sweet kindergarten students who are eager to learn.
They enjoy drawing, writing, sharing stories and love to read.
Our school is located in a high-poverty, high-crime and gang-infested neighborhood. Their parents are hard working and support their education. Unfortunately, like many schools we don't have many basic supplies and resources on health and wellness are out of the question. Despite, the circumstances my students come to school eager to learn.
My Project
Teaching children to take care of themselves through proper diet and exercise is crucial at this young age. These books explore the importance of a good diet and plenty of exercise. They will help them make positive decisions about caring for themselves. The activity mats include skipping, squatting and stretching. They will be on their way to physical fitness. With these fun activity mats they are sure to get moving! The Hokki stools move in all directions, which is critical to student development as physical movement both increases well-being and encourages the physical and intellectual maturing process.
Studies show that children are becoming more sedentary and more overweight and that they carry these tendencies with them into adolescence and adulthood.
Experts agree that we need to help them make physical activity a life-long habit. Through education, information, and encouragement, these books, activity mats and stools will inspire a new generation of busy bodies!
