Have you ever asked a class of kindergartners to sit still? Well if you have you know that it's not possible for most. Children need many opportunities throughout the day to move their bodies in a productive way.
Research suggests that kids actually need to move to be able to focus on learning.
The kids in my class are vibrant, full of life and ready to take on the world. Kindergarten lays the foundation for these children. I cannot expect them to sit still for hours and work productively. I have been able to adjust some of the furniture to allow for some alternative seating but it is just not enough. The goal of this project is to add movement opportunities and seating options all around our classroom. This will allow every child an appropriate place to learn that will support their individual learning needs.
My Project
These alternative seating options and fidgets will allow my students to channel their energy in a productive way. In many traditional classroom settings, children are expected to sit still and learn. This is an unrealistic expectation and its time to break free from the old and help the children of today learn the best way possible.
Flexible seating lets my kids move and learn at the same time!
Help my kids focus and learn in new ways. They will have more options for getting "The wiggles out" while not disrupting the learning of others. This project will add seats that allow movement while the children are seated and help them to channel their energy in a meaningful way. Fidgets work wonders for keeping busy hands moving and out of trouble! With your help, these tools will help make learning easier and more fun.
