Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I have an amazing group of smart first graders! They always come to class ready to learn as much as they can. We have already started off to a great start.
Since our school is so small, we often have to share PE equipment.
For example, we utilize the public jungle gym and basketball court owned by the El Rio center. PE is one of my class' favorite time of day and I would love to be able to bring them fun equipment to use!
My boys love to shoot hoops with our one basketball that has a hole and must always be pumped up right before P.E. They also love to play soccer with the one soccer ball we have.
My girls are always using their imagination to play active games out on the jungle gym and have told me they would love to have some thing other than balls to play with.
I hope that we can add some fun tools to make our physical learning even more fun!
My Project
1st graders never stop moving! It is by far the best way for them to learn! My students have already showed me that they are excited to learn in class; but how can I keep that momentum going the entire year? P.E. disguised as play time!
After a full 90 minutes of math or reading, my kiddos need a break from their mental focus and working hard in class.
Luckily we have a full hour of P.E. time, but what can I do to make that time stimulating for them?
We often have to share space and resources. We do not receive funds to buy equipment as those funds are usually allocated to other areas.
This is the goal for my class this year! To have a fulfilling and stimulating P.E. time so they are ready to take on the rest of the day!
