My classroom is designed specifically for student growth and success. I teach students who come from low-income families; I have learned that most come to school seeking the attention and love that they lack outside of school. I want to be able to give students the best possible learning environment possible. They are extremely innovative, entertaining and vibrant individuals.
Each student comes to school every day with new and exciting things to share with me.
Math and science can be a difficult subjects to make students fall in love with; most have given up before they have even truly tried. I believe I have made large strides of improvement on how to reach each individual student. I am not only trying to change their outlook on math and science, but also their outlook on education. I want them to come to school every day, excited to learn and growing in their own academic knowledge, by critically thinking and applying it to their own lives.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow for my students to not only look forward to coming to my math and science class, but also will allow them to feel more at home and comfortable.
I believe that allowing the students to have an option of where they would like to sit, opens up the door for them to be more responsible for his or her own learning experience.
I have learned that being extremely rigid and strict with seating charts has only caused more issues. Most students will continue to rebel in order to capture your attention and only will be moved again and again.
I would love to have wobble cushions, yoga balls and portable desks integrated next school year, in order to unlock every student's full potential of learning from the very beginning.
