My students are living in high poverty situations. Many are from single-parent families or are being raised by a grandparent. My school is the largest Title I school in our district with many ELL (English Language Learners) students.
We care so much about our students and are always looking for ways to help them, not only with their academics but also with life issues that may arise due to their household situations.
We refer to our students as "our kids" because we often feel as if we need to provide for them everything they need to be successful.
My Project
Each item requested will be used during our outdoor play time. My students love outdoor games like basketball and soccer, but have no balls or goals to play either.
Not only will it help them stay active and fit, but also allow them to work on character and social development at the same time.
My students will be absolutely thrilled to receive some outdoor equipment! I've also requested a ball bag to keep everything in and allow us to take it out during just our recess time. Our school has a huge grassy area that will be perfect for playing soccer and football.
Lastly, I've requested outdoor picnic blankets. These will be perfect for any beautiful days in which we just want to go lay outside and read or have a science lesson or art project!
