My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income school. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students crave creative and meaningful learning experiences that will help them thrive during their school year. I am responsible for teaching math and science to two groups of students. My homeroom class consists of a mix of general education with English language learners. My second class is a general education class. Each classroom consisting of 25 students. Total of 50 students that I am teaching math and science to this school year. We would love for our classroom to support all educational needs of each student.
My Project
Third grade is by far very challenging for an 8 year old. The gap in curriculum is great and it is their first time taking the NYS Exams which can be very overwhelming. Sometime they just need a little motivation to keep them going through those tough moments when the work can be very challenging. Classwork, homework, focusing and being a team player are very important parts of our day. Prizes put a smile on their little faces and makes them feel good that they are doing their best and to not give up. Knowing how hard they work I like to reward them throughout the week to help keep them focused and to keep reaching for the stars!
