Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from hardworking families. This is the second year of a new STEM school in our part of the district. They are not only responsible for learning reading, writing, math and social studies, but they also complete engineering challenges. We also compete in a First Level Robotics team.
This is my third year as a teacher at a STEM school, so we are all working together on this amazing journey.
Some of my students don't have access to computers or any extra activities outside of the school day. Teaching them how to use the materials in this project will be a great way to get them excited about school and learning.
My Project
The materials requested are more books to add to our classroom library to promote diversity. My students will be able to read stories of how the characters overcome some problem to find people they love to find a solution. My classroom library needs some revamping and the books in this project will allow learners in my classroom to dive into rich fiction and non fiction text. The learning outcome of these titles will give my students more practice with not only reading and writing but also twenty-first century skills.
These materials will make a huge impact on the learning in this classroom because students can see themselves in the characters to make more meaningful connections!
