Ms. Vogt from Buckeye AZ is requesting Art Supplies through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Let’s Get Messy in the Art Room!

Help me give my students the materials they have wanted for years, including aprons for our messy projects, tools for clay art, and dry erase boards to practice drawing techniques.

My Students

As an art teacher, my students inspire me to be creative, resourceful, and to always think outside the box. These special individuals range from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Many of them are English Language Learners and many come from low-income households.

Countless students have told me that they don’t have access to crayons, markers, pencils, or even paper at home.

These are the kiddos who are excited to come to school everyday and have a difficult time stopping when it is time to clean up. This makes me determined to make the most of my time with them and provide them with an opportunity to work with as many different mediums/materials as possible.

My ultimate hope for all my students is that they will find a form of art (whether that be painting, ceramics, origami, drawing, etc.) that they connect with and brings joy to their life.

My Project

Let’s face it, the best experiences in art happen when you can get your hands dirty. My students love working with paint, clay, pastels, and papier-mâché. The messier, the better! However, they (and their parents) don’t enjoy bringing their artwork home on their clothes. For the last two years, my students have asked for aprons to wear during our more “creative” projects.

Aprons will allow these young artists to focus on their artwork rather than standing three feet from the table to ensure they don’t become a part of said art.

Every item on this list are materials my students ask for on a consistent basis. Fancy edged scissors to give their paper projects more pizazz, clay tools to add detail to their 3D sculptures, and dry erase boards to practice their drawing skills without wasting precious paper.
