This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of hope and promise, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I challenge them each and every day to learn something new and share it with me the next morning. I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do anything.
I teach a diverse and energetic group of amazing 4th graders!
My students are eager to learn each and every day. They encompass all socioeconomic and academic levels and have a diverse set of experiences that make our classroom like no other. My scholars believe in themselves because they know that I believe in them. They fully understand that good is not good enough. I expect greatness each and every day.
My Project
How do students learn to read? By reading of course!
Although my students are fourth graders, they love picture books!
They also have a love for reading and they especially enjoy reading in small groups with their peers. In order to assist with this, we will be participating in book clubs in our classroom. However, we do not have many high interest books for students. These high interest books will engage the scholars in reading with their classmates.
My students chose the books in this project, so that they will have ownership of their own classroom library. Many of them have never been able to go shopping online for classroom materials and were very excited about this opportunity.
With your help, each of my students will be able to engage in a quality book club with relevant and high interest text.
