My Students
Our school was impacted by Hurricane Maria and new students have been arriving from Puerto Rico due to the affects of the hurricane. These 6th grade students came into school after a long school closure with sad tales of the devastating effect of the storm.
All of my students may be in the same classroom, but they are not the same.
Multiple languages are spoken in their homes, and each home has its own struggles.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds. We are a Title I school, the type of school where students, parents, and teachers feel at home. We work really hard to make our school a community. Due to Hurricane Maria, we really need to make up for the lost classroom time.
My Project
The head phones and mouses will be instrumental for my students, as they use laptops and yogas to complete their online curriculum. My students from Puerto Rico are consistently working on learning the English language, and use the Spanish curriculum materials to forge the way between Spanish and English. The headsets will help those students hear the English language spoken, so they can learn the language through classroom content.
The mouses are helpful when using the laptops because not all students are capable of using the mousepad (touchpad) without getting frustrated, so the mouse will come in handy for those students.
