Help me give my students sit spots and carpet markers. In an active music classroom, students are frequently moving around freely and to different formations. Having different shapes/colors of carpet markers will help students know where to go.
My students are a creative, strong-willed, diverse group of individuals. They enjoy working together as well as independently. Because all of my students are in military families, a lot of them rely on school for their main source of structure. While they need the structure school provides, my students LOVE to come to music where they can be flexible and express themselves.
These creative students are our future.
Their creativity and passion will change the world. They need many hands-on, enactive experiences to have a well-rounded educational experience.
My Project
In an active music classroom, students are frequently moving and dancing. Especially for younger students, making certain shapes and formations can be quite difficult. Having different colors and shapes of carpet markers will tremendously speed up the process of getting into dance formations, leaving more time for moving and learning.
Movement is a major part of any elementary music classroom.
This summer, I had the opportunity to take part in some music educator teacher training courses. In these courses, I learned many new movement ideas to bring back to my classroom.
Having a visual reminder of where to go during movement, dancing, and games will simplify many processes for students and for the teacher.
