Mrs. Nesbitt from Decatur GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need MacBook Air as our classroom computer to keep up with changing technology because our classroom computers are currently 10 years or more out of date.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school is located in an area where 99% of our students are on free lunch. Also 20% of the school's population is deemed homeless. Coming to school for most of these students is an outlet to get away from everyday stress. Often times my students don't want to leave and ask if they can come home with me. I love my job and seeing them everyday wanting to learn makes me strive harder to make their experiences at school lifetime memories. Our school is old and is not equipped for these 21st century learners. In our class we have very limited technology that is very outdated and often times doesn't work. However my students love to get use technology but with the resources we have it can be a challenge to get them be 21 century learners with limited tools.
Having a Macbook inside of our classroom will provide my students with access to technology that most of them have never encountered. With the Macbook addition the students will be able to rotate to the Macbook center and learn how to navigate to do different activities.
With the with the addition of the Macbook students will be doing a variety of activities.
First thing they will be doing on the Macbook is research using the internet on various informational topics. Also they will be creating video stories using iMovie as well as exploring the operating system by typing things into Micorsoft.
