Help me give my students hands on materials to learn about science subjects like weather and push/pull. Put manipulatives in their hands to practice counting, and use highlighters to learn sight words.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students enter my classroom in August not knowing how to write their name or interact in a classroom setting. My greatest joy is watching them leave kindergarten as confident, independent readers and writers, ready for the years ahead.
This year, we started (and have continued) online, and I have to say, they're rocking it!
My students make me smile every day, and it's a joy to see how much they are learning.
I work in a Title I school in Northern California.
Title I means a majority of my students come from low-income households. Many of them are English Language Learners. I have students who were born here in California and others who move here throughout the year. With students coming and going, I never know how much time I will have with them, but I want to make sure every day counts, and that wherever they go next, they are prepared.
My Project
This year has been quite different from before. We started the school year learning remotely, and my amazing students are doing a great job learning and thriving at home. While I wish they could be in the classroom with me, until they can, I want to provide as many hands-on activities and experiences as possible.
Sunglasses, gloves and toy cars will help us learn about science with our new curriculum.
Highlighters will be used for sight word fun, and toys will be used as motivators and rewards for all of their hard work, while encouraging learning at the same time. Dot counters will be used in math to teach counting with a one-to-one correspondence, along with addition, subtraction and place value. Plastic bags and zip bags will help with distribution of materials and organization of them at home.
I can't wait to treat my students to some fun surprises at the next materials distribution!
