We are a Title I school in Virginia. Students in our school are diverse in that they all have very different home situations. They are very kind and are really accepting of new ideas. We live in a rural area where many need financial assistance to make ends meet. They are silly, spunky kids who are enthusiastic about learning and using new things. They are especially excited to have hands-on learning as part of their day.
Our Environmental Science Club is working to have experiences of all types.
This project will be our Spring project.
My Project
Students will get plants started for our school garden indoors. We can watch them grow and learn about plant processes through exploration and inquiry. The plant displays and models will allow students to see atoms, even though they can't see them.
Our school garden is managed why our Environmental Club.
My class assists with maintaining the beds as well. We will use this tower to get our plants going and ready to move to our greenhouse and eventually the beds this spring. This tool is large enough for all students to have an impact in what we grow.
The animal and plant cell models will allow students an up close look at something too small to see. We will also use the plant kingdom displays to explore and see the items we learn about but rarely get to see.
