Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching for 7 years in privates school, but it has always been my dream to teach in public. I am beyond excited to start teaching in public school this upcoming school year! Although I haven't met my students yet, I want to start the year off strong. I am a great supporter of making learning fun and exciting to best support every learner who comes through my doors. Going into public this year will be quite the change since most resources were provided for my classrooms in private. So, even though I have taught for some time, I will feel like I'm going into my first year of teaching as I don't have many of my own resources.
My goal this year is to build up my own flexible seating options in my new classroom as I want to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for my incoming students.
My Project
Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to choose how they learn and have fun doing it! Because school is a like a second home to most students, it is important to provide comfort in this home. When students feel they have a choice in how they learn, they become more responsible in their decisions. I have seen firsthand how flexible seating excites students to learn and be productive.
Whether flexible seating is being used to get their wiggles out or used to get lost in a good book, students always rave about how much they love and appreciate having these options in their classroom.
