My students need flexible seating choices. I've chosen a variety of items including: peanut balls, wobble chairs, floor cushions, stools, and portable lap desks to give them many choices.
My school is full of energetic and engaging students. They come from a variety of backgrounds, but all have one thing in common. They come to school wanting to learn. I have made a promise to myself to always help them learn in the best and most appropriate way possible. We have wonderful involvement from the community that ranges from parents all the way up to the mayor. They all have one thing in common. They want the children to be successful.
My students are not only my students, they are my children.
We are a family. I love to see the lightbulb "go off" as they learn something new. I love to see them go home and research a topic and come back and share it with the class. I love how they encourage each other to do a little better and work a little harder. I am proud to be a teacher to my students and want to give them the best education possible.
My Project
I would love to give my students some new choices in seating for our classroom. I know that if students are able to be comfortable while they are learning, they are able to learn better. Flexible seating is still fairly new in the classroom, but the research supports that it is a wonderful way for students to learn and also feel like their classroom is an extension of their home.
Traditional desks and chairs are not very comfortable and leave much to be desired.
I'm requesting wobble chairs, lap desks, floor cushions, peanut balls, and stools to help give my students a variety of options. These flexible seating options will help my students reach their academic goals while helping them feel more welcome and relaxed in the classroom.
