This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are an extremely diverse group. We are a Title I school which means we are a high poverty school and every student receives free breakfast and lunch. Class reading levels range from second grade to tenth grade within my 6th grade classes.
These children look to their teachers for so much more than a simple education.
They are struggling with the obstacles they face at home, as well as the limitations many of them have as a result of low reading levels. Many have never left the town in which they live. Getting our children to read will allow them to expand on their knowledge of the world around them even though they don't have the monetary ability to travel.
My Project
Having 6 Kindle Fire tablets in the classroom will allow the students to be able to read and choose from a plethora of books. Students will be able to check out a Kindle and get cozy in the reading center and let their sweet minds explore the stories.
Having 6 Kindle Fire tablets in the classroom will open the doors of knowledge and education to my students.
We will be able to download millions of books right at our fingertips. We will be able to explore every genre and find books just right for every student!
