My classroom is composed of very inquisitive sixth graders in a highly gifted program, many of whom have not often dealt with failure or developed their ability to persevere through challenges. They are working to develop perseverance and flexible thinking.
My students have a voracious desire for answers to their questions and love to discover new information.
They are an inquisitive group that is learning to take responsible risks and to step outside of their comfort zones. My students tackle a number of project-based studies throughout the year that require them to budget their time, learn to work with others, and overcome obstacles.
My Project
These Fire Tablets will allow my students to have greater access to new literature. Their portability will be beneficial to the avid readers in my classroom by helping to lighten student backpacks by removing the need for students to carry their personal books, required reading, and other texts in print format. During our reading challenges throughout the year, students will have access to multiple books at once so they can complete comparison activities and literature analyses. This will also decrease the number of classroom sets of books we will need to physically store as some copies will now be digital.
Amazon Fire Tablets will help my students have increased access to the books they need throughout the year.
Digital copies of textbooks can be stored on these devices, helping to lighten the backpacks of our younger students in higher-level math classes. Students who are traveling during the year will also have the option to take a classroom digital copy of any needed textbooks with them in a small, lightweight, portable device.
