This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are my second set of kids! My students are three year-olds that come from an area of very high economic need in Irvington. They are curious, thoughtful and eager learners. This is the period of time when they are learning to love school: a love that will hopefully follow them for years to come. The entire school has a new found energy for literacy with our new Lending Libray. Their passion to keep learning despite the odds inspires me.
My Project
Many of my students do not have access to any technology outside of the classroom. These tablets would enable my students to learn how to effectively use technology tools while playing learning games and reading e-books. These new tools will help to invigorate the students enthusiasm for learning and growing. The tablets will be used to help with Math and Literacy small groups and to assist with students who need non-traditional means of assessment and engagement. I would also use the tablets to help the students search for information on our current studies, for example allowing students to search the internet for what animals live in trees while we are in our current Tree Unit. The tablets would broaden the students horizons.
