Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in the inner city and the majority of the students come from low-income families that qualify for free meal plans. We have come back to school to do in person learning and we are currently adjusting and understand what we need to help students become successful.
My students are hardworking students who persevere despite any challenges they are faced with at school or their personal lives.
I love how my students are resilient and love participating in my class. A normal day in my class would be students collaborating with each other, explaining to each other strategies in math, and having sophisticated debates about science claims.
My Project
I've noticed that my students are coming in very high energy before school and after lunch time. Since our school does not offer recess and only have five minutes of passing period for students to exert their energy. Because of the lack of recess and passing period, I see a lot of behaviors that I need to redirect in order for them to focus in class.
I am requesting these bouncy bands to put on student chairs so that they still have an outlet in my classroom to exert their energy that may have been bottled up from their past periods.
This will lead to more focus in my classes and less redirected behaviors.
