The goal of this project is to bring science to life for my students! I teach science to the TK and kindergarten classes at my school. In science, we cover a range of standards that discuss an animal's environment and needs. I can't think of a better way to teach my students what an animal needs to stay alive than through raising baby chicks together! I want my students to develop a love for science young and I know this project will help do that. An important aspect of science is being curious. I am sure that this project will encourage my students to be curious about the world around them.
With the materials in this project, I will be able to hatch baby chicks with my students.
I have requested items like an incubator, food and water containers, chick feed, and more. These materials will support us in hatching the chickens from eggs. I have also added items to enhance this experience and make it even more meaningful for the students. I requested books so we can read about chickens together. I also added toy eggs and chickens for the Transitional Kindergarten kids to use as well. This project includes hands-on learning as well as play-based activities for the kids. It encompasses many different modalities to ensure that it is meaningful to all students. With this project I hope to have a lasting impact on my students to develop a love for science.
