Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from an urban area with diverse backgrounds, so they are facing the challenge of learning English as well as maintaining their home language. This can be frustrating for anyone, so it is highly important that they are afforded a classroom environment that promotes their learning and well being.
They are enthusiastic, ambitious, and motivated learners.
I wish for each one of my students to have the opportunities that they so rightfully deserve in an environment that provides ample and worthwhile learning experiences.
My Project
Literacy is the basis for all content areas. I have requested materials for my students to use as they work on various literacy skills. The alphabet practice cards will enable students to work on letter identification and letter-sound connection, as well as refine their letter writing skills. The CVC words match will be utilized during small group activities, which will allow students to practice beginning, middle and ending sounds. They will also be able to build CVC words, which will lead to word recognition.
It is important to build a strong literacy foundation when children start their journey as students.
The dry erase lap boards will be used during whole group, small group and independently by my students, which they will use to to write letters, words, their name, and create a story board. I want my students to have materials that will lead them to be successful literacy learners.
