My students need tools (so they can get into the "business" of learning) such as wiggle stools, "offices" for quiet work space, light filters to calm our room, and an easel that we all can use.
In my second grade classroom, every day is an opportunity to learn something new! I want my students to love what they are learning so I try to make everything we learn connect to their lives and truly have meaning. We work hard each day and we have fun while we learn!
My second graders LOVE to learn!
They are eager each morning to come in and read, write, and learn something new! In our class, we have many diverse cultures and we speak many different languages. Some of my students are second language learners with less support from home, due to language barriers. So, that makes it especially exciting to watch them grow and learn as readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists - each and every day!
My Project
Our classroom needs these learning tools so we can really get down to the business of learning! The light filters will help to create a calmer atmosphere in our classroom while the "offices" (aka privacy screens) will give students a special space of their own to work, as neeeded. The "wiggle stools" (Hokki stools) will finish out our class set (that we have been granted through several Donors Choose projects!) so that everyone will have the option to work while they wiggle. Lastly, we need an easel that not only I can teach with but each student can reach to work on and share their thinking with our class.
